What?

At the crossroads of tradition and technology a new generation of artists are forging innovative practices and productions that engage with contemporary social and environmental problems. Sahabhaga: Festival of Participatory Performance exists as a space to exchange, learn and, most all, participate in this creative movement. 

Who?

The festival is open to the public, and we're extending a special invitation to:

• Applied Theatre Practitioners (Theatre of the Oppressed, Theatre for Development, Playback Theatre, Psychodrama, Sociodrama and Drama Therapy)
• Performing Artists (Theatre Artists, Poets, Dancers, Puppeteers, Acrobats and Musicians)
• Arts Educators (Teaching Artists, Academics, and Community Artists)
• Young Artists (of all arts disciplines, students or not)

Main Stage

The main stage revolves around interactive theatre, including Forum Theatre, Playback Theatre, and other socially engaged productions.

Workshops

Participatory creative workshops from local, national and international practitioners will address the following three questions:

• What are the most compelling and creative ways of inviting participation?
• How do modes of participatory performance reflect their cultural context?
• How can performance awaken the impulse to act for a more just world?

College Fest

A competition of socially and environmentally compelling performances by college students. 

Eve of the Festival Showcase

On the evening of Thursday 29th November we will host a showcase of performances including: Shadow Liberation and Raheema Begum.
